Country Roads Labor Day Sale

Time has been my biggest enemy this Summer. There just never is enough hours in the day for me. Country Roads is having a big sale on Labor Day Monday. For those of you that are aware of the good times to be had by all at the annual Orange International Street Faire. . .that little "affair" will be all gone by Monday. That means we have plenty of parking for our sale, "I Survived the Orange International Street Faire Sale". Here are just a few pictures of some of the wonderful things that will be on sale Monday!

This is a great folk art piece. It is an old covered bridge birdhouse that is lined in tin for the birds to stop on by and have a bite to eat inside. Anyway, I wish you all a great week-end, and I hope to see many of you at our sale. Seriously, (my new favorite word), you really don't want to miss out on some great stuff at great prices!!

White Wednesday at Country Roads

As Summer is on its way to wrapping itself up, and Fall in lingering around the corner, I just wanted to wish you all a happy "White Wednesday"!  It seems like this Summer truly passed in the blink of an eye and sadly I didn't get my down time that I usually enjoy during the Summer. There was just way too much to do. Today I'm joining Kathleen for her weekly "White Wednesdays"! Here are a few things that caught my eye over the past week at Country Roads.

Are you going to be around on Labor Day week-end? Country Roads will be having our big annual Labor Day sale on Monday, "I Survived the Orange International Street Faire Sale"!  There are great percentages off throughout the store. And what is even better, the Street Faire is gone, it disappears like it never happened except that kind of sour smell that lingers for a few days. I hope we get a chance to see you guys on Labor Day for our sale. There will even be some holiday merchandise on sale as well!

Fall Gardening At Johnnye Merle's!

One of my favorite things about Country Roads is the variety! There really is something for everyone. I've written about our nursery and gardens, named after my Mom,  "Johnnye Merle". She loved gardening and often shared her stories with me, then with my own kids, about how she use to love to garden in her home state of Texas, although the soil was pretty tough. That is why she was a big fan of the Texas Bluebonnets. As she would always tell us, "you could just throw 'em in the ground and they would grow anywhere"! I passed on that same love of gardening just like my Mom did to my kids as well. My oldest, Brande, has the gardens out in the back at Country Roads. I love how it doesn't look like other gardens. There are many demonstrative gardens throughout the back area. Also, there are always a great selection of different types of plants that you just don't find everywhere including Annie's Annuals, and Native Suns that have great succulents. And since Fall is just around the corner, JM Gardens is having a 10% off sale through Labor Day Monday. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Johnnye Merle's Gardens and Nursery!

I hope you find the time to stop by and see us. Shopping at Country Roads is so more pleasant now since that horrible spell of "hot" weather and humid we had for almost two weeks straight, is GONE! It's nice to feel the sea breeze again!! I hope to see you over the week-end.

CR Randomness

One of my favorite words of all times is "dandy". So when I saw this little oven thing in the store the other day, I had to take a picture of it. I think "dandy" describes this insanely busy and crazy Summer of mine. Free time has been nonexistent and I'm looking forward to some calmer, less hectic days ahead. I took some random pictures the other day at Country Roads. Just "stuff" that caught my eye on that particular day. I thought I would share some of our CR eye candy with you this morning!

And just like life, sometimes the simplest, or the "less is more" say the most. As always, the store looks great right now and is filled with wonderful things. We hope you find the time to stop by for a visit soon!

White Wednesday

This "White Wednesday" puts us right in the middle of August. I know some of our kids are starting back to school and others are still enjoying the last few weeks of Summer. Here in SoCal, the heat & humidity  has been on! Usually we may get a day or two of this, but this Summer we are in the second week of it. I want my "regular" weather back as soon as possible! Seriously!! Moving on to more pleasant things, I am in love with the chair above. Sue Lennon has the magic touch when it comes to her chairs. Here are a few more of my favorite "whites" at Country Roads on this "White Wednesday"!

If you love the old vintage chandeliers, be sure to stop by our store. Country Roads has so many to choose from in all different shapes, styles and prices!  On this "White Wednesday" I'm linking up with my friend Kathleen over at Faded Charm Cottage. Please be sure to stop by and pay her a visit. And for those of us here in sunny SoCal, they are saying the heat wave is slowly going away!!  Take care.

When a Child is Born

Yesterday morning we headed over to Bryce & Justine's so all the kids could spend some time with our newest addition to my family "Brooklyn Sage". Riley has  been SO anxious to have Sage placed in her arms. As you can tell, I think Morgan was sharing a bit of those magic moments right along side of her cousin.

I love this picture and the way Riley looks at Sage with so much love and excitement. I'm telling you, it doesn't get much better than this.

When a baby is brand new, they always look so different as time passes.  Justine has dark hair, and Bryce is blonde like I am. Although Sage was born with a head of dark hair, the ends of her hair and some other spots are turning blonde. My Mom always use to tell me I was born with a head full of black hair that grew in blonde. I guess we all have some strong genes in our family.

Morgan was still hanging out in her pajamas. She was so excited that her cousins had come over for a visit and play.

My boy Bodhi, checking out his Uncle Bryce's electronics. Thankfully he only "looked". Bodhi will grow up to be a good guy even if he grows up in a world of pink!

The girls glued to the TV set in Morgan's room. I guess Morgan gets a better view of the TV by placing her chair on the bed to watch it.

I think this is not only my favorite picture, but my favorite moment of the morning. Bodhi is SO excited as he "finally" gets his turn to hold his new little cousin. Just look at that smile. He was looking at Justine at the time I took the picture. I think Bodhi's little smile tells the story.  It always has been, and it always will be, all about family!
