Gifts From The Heart
This was a picture I used for my Christmas cards back in 1983. Bryce was two months old, Katie was almost two years old, and Brande was three. I posted this picture kind of as a reminder to all of us as we enter the holiday season this year. The world we are living in today has been a really financially tough one for so many. And I know it makes it worse that Christmas is around the corner, money is tight for many, and when it comes to buying gifts you may not be sure what to do. It's the "thought" that counts when it comes to Christmas, especially this year. A gift from the heart means so much more to people these days. Photos are a great gift, or handmade items that can be purchased really reasonable from sites like Etsy, or even at Country Roads too. We have many wonderful handmade things that are handmade, affordable and really nice. Just like when I said on my Thanksgiving post, "it's not about the food on the table, but the people who sit around the table", Christmas is the same way. It's not about how many presents you have under the tree, but it is the family and friends that you spend the time with around that Christmas tree! As I look at the picture of my little kids above, I remember their little smiles, and I don't have a clue what I got for Christmas that year! Why, because it is the simple things in life, like our babies smiles that will always be the greatest gifts of all, the things that we will always remember. It's another beautiful day here today, a bit chilly but beautiful just the same. I hope you all get to enjoy it!

Beginning to Look A Lot Like Fall
This display was put together by "my boy Bryce"! In a previous post, I had written about how awesome the front window displays were. Him and I were talking about changing out the middle store display and all I said was maybe we could do more of a Fall kind of look? When I saw this yesterday, I was so impressed. Also, Katie had redone her displays in her area, as had Brande in the garden. Look for pictures of these displays at all. It really is a great experience to work with your family! And yes, there are days we all fight and argue, but the one thing about us, we get over it real quick! Hope you can stop by and "feel" the feeling of Fall in the air at Country Roads!

The Best Little Playhouse Ever!!
One of my very talented and artistic friends and dealers is Maggie Gulati! And you would think after all these millions of years I've known her I would have a picture of her at my fingertips, but nope, not this morning. Her husband built this playhouse for their grandkids. Rich, as you can see, is also very talented. Maggie decorated the inside with many vintage "treasures" from Country Roads. Here are just a few pictures of the playhouse, have a tissue handy in case you start to drool with envy!

I hate to even say this, but the playhouse is not quite done yet! I'll be back with some pictures when it is complete!! Maggie was one of my first dealers at Country Roads, way back in 1993 when we first opened the store. Her imagination and artistic abilities are unbelievable, seriously. I think Maggie is especially good when it comes to painting animals. Like many of us here at Country Roads, she too has a passion and love for our four legged furry friends! People often ask me "how" do you stay in business after all these years? One of the main reasons is that we are ALL part of the same family; our "Country Roads Family"! One day I'll do a blog post on that alone, but just to be able to have a business that is filled with my family and friends is more than I could ever ask for. And Maggie, as you can see, is totally awesome! Thanks for sharing the picture Maggie, you are the best!
