Still Lovin' The Industrial!

For those of you that get week-ends off, I hope you find some down time and maybe just a bit of time to stop by and see us as well. The industrial look is still alive and well and going strong here at Country Roads! This morning I've got a few pictures of my son Bryce's things in our last building. There is always a variety to choose from.

Across from my son is Shawn and Jennie who also carry industrial and country pieces. Shawn makes some killer tables, to say the least. You have to check them out. If you are headed out to the Rose Bowl Flea Market tomorrow, you will find Bryce and his "associates" out there selling. Have a great week-end and we hope to see you soon!

When You Get It!

Country Roads is such a big part of me and my family. As our 20th year mark lingers around the corner, I feel so good when I know just how far we have come in all of these years. The group of talent I have here right now at CR has some of the best I've ever had over the years.  Seriously. One of my personal favorites is Sue Lennon. There are a variety of reasons why, but the main reason is that Sue is an original. Her displays, vignettes, and talent are not only wonderful, but different than any other areas of Country Roads. Sue has a lot of lighting in her space right now that is also different from the rest. Take a look at her freshly re-displayed little corner at CR.

Besides Sue's lighting, I also love her furniture. They have a great look and I have a couple of pieces. I have to say at first, I was a bit concerned to bring home "white" or off white furniture. But I have to tell you that the other night when my grandson Bodhi took off running across my house with a chocolate ice cream bar in his hand and dived into my couch with the ice cream, I cringed. But you know, I took some warm water and it came right out.  I hope you will find some time to come down and visit us. Each and every day there is always something "new & exciting" showing up here at Country Roads!

Labor Day Sale Preview

Yesterday the Street Faire was pretty mellow. Actually one of the mellowest Street Faire days I've ever worked. Of course by my typing those words I've probably just jinxed myself. And of course today is
"BSC Sunday" and if that wasn't enough with the Street Faire going on, there was a really big full moon last night! Wish us luck today because I think we may need it. Tomorrow is our big sale, and I only had time to snap a few pictures yesterday at the end of the day. I just wanted you to take a peek at some of our eye candy we have in Country Roads right now!

Okay, wish us luck today, because I have a gut feeling we are going to need it! And come on down tomorrow when there is plenty of free parking, NO crowds, NO Street Faire, just lots of great stuff on sale at Country Roads!

Country Roads Labor Day Sale

Time has been my biggest enemy this Summer. There just never is enough hours in the day for me. Country Roads is having a big sale on Labor Day Monday. For those of you that are aware of the good times to be had by all at the annual Orange International Street Faire. . .that little "affair" will be all gone by Monday. That means we have plenty of parking for our sale, "I Survived the Orange International Street Faire Sale". Here are just a few pictures of some of the wonderful things that will be on sale Monday!

This is a great folk art piece. It is an old covered bridge birdhouse that is lined in tin for the birds to stop on by and have a bite to eat inside. Anyway, I wish you all a great week-end, and I hope to see many of you at our sale. Seriously, (my new favorite word), you really don't want to miss out on some great stuff at great prices!!

White Wednesday at Country Roads

As Summer is on its way to wrapping itself up, and Fall in lingering around the corner, I just wanted to wish you all a happy "White Wednesday"!  It seems like this Summer truly passed in the blink of an eye and sadly I didn't get my down time that I usually enjoy during the Summer. There was just way too much to do. Today I'm joining Kathleen for her weekly "White Wednesdays"! Here are a few things that caught my eye over the past week at Country Roads.

Are you going to be around on Labor Day week-end? Country Roads will be having our big annual Labor Day sale on Monday, "I Survived the Orange International Street Faire Sale"!  There are great percentages off throughout the store. And what is even better, the Street Faire is gone, it disappears like it never happened except that kind of sour smell that lingers for a few days. I hope we get a chance to see you guys on Labor Day for our sale. There will even be some holiday merchandise on sale as well!

Fall Gardening At Johnnye Merle's!

One of my favorite things about Country Roads is the variety! There really is something for everyone. I've written about our nursery and gardens, named after my Mom,  "Johnnye Merle". She loved gardening and often shared her stories with me, then with my own kids, about how she use to love to garden in her home state of Texas, although the soil was pretty tough. That is why she was a big fan of the Texas Bluebonnets. As she would always tell us, "you could just throw 'em in the ground and they would grow anywhere"! I passed on that same love of gardening just like my Mom did to my kids as well. My oldest, Brande, has the gardens out in the back at Country Roads. I love how it doesn't look like other gardens. There are many demonstrative gardens throughout the back area. Also, there are always a great selection of different types of plants that you just don't find everywhere including Annie's Annuals, and Native Suns that have great succulents. And since Fall is just around the corner, JM Gardens is having a 10% off sale through Labor Day Monday. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Johnnye Merle's Gardens and Nursery!

I hope you find the time to stop by and see us. Shopping at Country Roads is so more pleasant now since that horrible spell of "hot" weather and humid we had for almost two weeks straight, is GONE! It's nice to feel the sea breeze again!! I hope to see you over the week-end.
