Holiday Memories at Country Roads

Yesterday was the first day of our three day "Holiday Memories" sale! It was nice to see so many people out shopping. That always puts a smile on my face, thank you. Right now Country Roads is packed with holiday stuff for both your Fall decorating and Christmas. And are you looking for a good old vintage table for your holiday dinners? Yep, we've got those too. Here are some of our vintage "holiday memories" below, and they are on sale!








I hope you find some time to stop in over the week-end and take advantage of the great sales that Country Roads has going on this week-end. And it actually "feels" like Fall this morning. Have a great week-end!

Gratitude

For those of you in this "biz" of ours, you know it has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years ago or so. It use to be you could always bank on week-ends, and the week days were there to add some extra to what you sold over the week-end. Now, it is a whole different game. There is no longer any rhyme or reason to business. So, at Country Roads we all pretty much have the same goal. Good displays,quality merchandise, and customer service that, in my opinion, is some of the best around and a priority in any business! We open our front door daily with a smile on our face and work our business. You never, ever know what to expect of the day. Will it be busy, will it be slower, you just never know. Yesterday was one of those days that caught us by surprise. We are having a mini Fall heat wave, and I'm thinking to myself, no one is really going to want to shop. And that attitude is NOT me. I'm pretty much a positive person and strive to live my life that way. So what happened yesterday, a killer day!! Why? HBO's set designer for "True Blood" was in shopping for the show. It was great. And as if that was enough, then the buyer for props from Hurley stopped by. Here are a few of the pictures of what "SOLD" yesterday!


We never know what kind of curve ball life will throw at us. But if we are prepared with a smile on our face, hope in our heart, and positivity in our soul, and a few prayers at night, we'll all be okay, really. And for this, I express my gratitde to my wonderful Country Roads customers. Thank you!

Lookin' Good, Really Good!

Country Roads has always been pretty fortunate in adding some really good people to our Country Road family. This week, we have once again been blessed with the many talents of Sue Lennon! I haven't had a chance to see her great new look under the stairs in the main building, but just by seeing the pictures that Bryce sent me, I'm already impressed! Here are just a few to give you an idea of what I'm talking about!





And what I'm most excited about? Sue isn't even done putting her space together yet. I can hardly wait to see what else she hjas planned. Hope you have some time to stop by and see her soon. AND, don't forget, this Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Country Roads will be participating with other merchants in Old Towne Orange for our annual "Holiday Memories"! White Wednesday

With Halloween now a memory gone by, and Thanksgiving just weeks away, this "White Wednesday" finds me enjoying the first week of November in our warm California sunshine. It's been a speedy year, the months have disappeared before my eyes, and the passage of time still amazes me! I'm linking up today with my friend, Kathleen, for "White Wednesday". I've chosen some random "whitish" things from my favorite store, Country Roads!









This last picture is of "Buddy", who does have some "white" on him to share on this Fall "White Wednesday" day. My boy Bryce tends to also not only have the love of junk like me, his mom, but of our furry four legged friends as well! Someone was moving and couldn't take Buddy with them, so I'm sure you can figure the rest out. Buddy is about nine months old and I think he is pit/beagle mix probably with a few other things thrown in. Since my dog, "Sally the Wonder Dog" lives with us at home and hates all other dogs on the face of the earth, we can't bring Buddy home to live with us. But, Buddy is quickly becoming our Country Roads mascot I do believe. I'm trying, really trying, not to get too attached to Buddy. Did I already say, really trying? Election Day!

You know, I'm sick of all the political commercials, all the name calling and all the other garbage that is attached to our California election today. I often watch these horrible tv commercials and think to myself, "gee, how many hungry people in our country could just one of those commercials feed"? But again, that's just me. The one thing that IS important today, is that we do all go out and vote! Not everyone in this world has what we have, democracy. Take a few minutes out of your day and go visit the voting booth. There are many others in our world that do not have this privilege! And won't you be happy when all the horrific tv commercials are gone, off the air! Again, GO VOTE! It is important.

Halloween 2010

As many of you know already, my famiy is very important to me. And times we are all able to be together are the times I love the most. Last night we met over at Katie's house to go "Trick or Treating". Also, as I've said many times before, Katie lives in the house I grew up in, although her and Vinnie re-modeled it after my folks died. For me to be able to spend Halloween with my grandkids in the neighborhood I grew up in is something I can't even put begin to put into words.






Finally dinner, drinks, pumkin carving, preparing for the big night, getting costumes fixed, and drying tears, we were ready hit the streets of my old neighborhood for some serious "Trick or Treating"!


By the time we reached my old elementary school, and I had SO wanted my grandbabies to pose in front of my kindergarden room above, they were all pretty much over Halloween! Morgan had already called it a night, Bodhi was asleep, and Brande tried, without too much luck, to get Riley to pose in front of my kindergarden door at Patrick Henry Elementary in Long Beach. It was Room 1 and my teacher was Miss Mendoza. Funny how you remember those things. Riley & Aunt Brande decide to check out her haul of candy for the night. Riley is making the decision which pieces of candy Aunt Brande can take home with her! Bodhi, calling it a night after his first Halloween. Just dreamin' of next year when he can be out chasing the girls and getting to say, "Trick or Treat"! Another memory tucked away in my heart!
