We Decorate "Everything"!!

Behind this old, beat up door, is what some might refer to as their "guest restroom". Of course in our house when someone is over and has to use our facilities, we just say, "the bathroom is in the hall". You know, we just get to the point, after all we could call it, excuse the expression, "the shitter", but we are much more sophisticated than that! This bathroom is small, even though it has a tub/shower combination in it, there isn't a lot of room in here. But, like with the rest of my house, it's decorated! This is the first thing you see in our bathroom, a vintage medical cabinet filled with old trophies. I'm working on trying to get more boating/beach type trophies to go with the "theme" of the bathroom! On top of this cabinet is just some random vintage stuff I've picked up here and there, like the old propeller blade from a boat, a buoy, shells, fishing line, and a candle. Every room in my house has candles, I'm addicted!!In case you are wondering, they are Warm Glow Candles, the best ever made and we sell them at Country Roads. Okay, that was my shameless plug! Somehow I managed to squeeze a sink in this room! Above it sits a really cool vintage mirror with some fishing net, an oar, and a puffer fish, with a light inside of it hangs next to it all. My VERY favorite thing in this photo that you can't really see is on the right, next to the sink. It's an old antique radiator that came from the old Hotel Coronado in Del Mar. It weights a ton and actually I have two more in my house as well as this one. I love all the architectural detail on all of them! Nothing to exciting about the toilet except for the vintage Kona coffee tin that holds a tropical plant inside. This shelf sits on the wall above the toilet. It is filled with vintage fishing reels, boat related items, like the motorboat oil. What you can't see too well here is a black and white photo of a 1950's motorboat filled with "party people". I love it. This is kind of hard to see, but the framed advertisement on the left is for the old vintage Catalina Swimwear. The white shaped rescue float has the Catalina Swimwear logo written on it. At one point it was used in store display for Catalina Swimwear. It hangs above an old vintage bathing suit. I could not EVEN imagine wearing something so itchy and heavy in the ocean! And lastly, this is one of my most prized treasures, and yes, it's in the bathroom. It's a vintage advertising sign for Norwich Suntan Oil. I LOVE old advertising signs, they are like folk art to me. And this one was perfect for our little bathroom. I have some vintage swimming caps hanging from it and since I was trying to show some class, I removed the roll of toilet paper that is usually up there as well. Because if the TP is not there, my cats think its a toy and unroll it all over the place! You know, there is just something about those of us in the business of antiques. Somehow, your brain just forces you to decorate and display everything. . . even the bathroom in the hall!

Well, I would NEVER pee! I would be too busy looking at thing! Of course, you probably know my two favorite things: the party boat photo and the framed Catalina swimsuit ad! Evidently that air horn doesn't work anymore or it would been thrown at somebody!

So much fun! I love it all and I also feel so much better about all my own layers of treasures! One of the best perks of being in the business is all the great stuff we accumulate over the years and the best opportunities to get them, you really have a great place!~Jacque
p.s. my tp hangs from a birch branch that is screwed to the wall, same reason (pets)!
