I have this "thing" about full moons, retail, Country Roads all happening on a Sunday. That's never a good combo, ever. Yesterday was really, really "one of those days"!!! I can't say that enough. There is always something so very special about working Sundays, but when you throw in the full moon, we know we are in trouble! The day started promptly at 10am. An "Asia Tour" bus pulls up across the street in front of Paul's Bar early this morning. I look out the window as the sidewalk begins to fill with many, many Japanese women tourists, and one Japanese man leading the way. They came to Country Roads! Welcome full moon Sunday. Please don't misunderstand me, I was thrilled to have a bus load of customers come visit, but it was total chaos. That started the day. Then of course we had our usual Sunday antique geeks and freaks. It was just a really, really long crazy day. So. . .
after closing the store and walking to my car, Brande and I have to go back in because the person that watered the flower boxes out front of the store didn't turn the water all the way off. Back in we go, disarm the alarm, get the water key & pliers because nothing ever works right at Country Roads, reset the alarm, go back and turn the water all the way off, and finally, I'm in my car headed home. Almost the entire way home, there were "those" kinds of drivers. I'm sure if you live in Southern CA you know what I'm talking about. Finally, I'm getting to the part of the 22 freeway the merges into the 405 freeway which means, home sweet home is only minutes away. Then it happens! I get stuck behind this big ass "thing" on the freeway. I have no clue what it is and honestly I don't care. I just want to get out from behind it and get to my house. I hear a cold Corona calling my name, and my ipod and headphones wanting to peacefully take me to another place! If I can only get around this "thing" on the freeway. Finally, it happens, I can merge and get out from behind it and head home. As I pass it, I look to see what I've been stuck behind. And sure enough, it was the big ass Oscar Mayer Wienie Mobile! Please someone tell me why these thing happen to me? And I thought for a second, I really DO feel like an Oscar Mayer Wienie, and I STILL can't get that song out of my head. What a day! In case you want to hum it and make yourself as crazy as me, here are the lyrics: "Oh, I wish I was an Oscar Mayer weiner, that is what I'd truly like to be,'cause if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner, everyone would be in love with me!" Then as I remembered as I was slowly losing my mind, Riley and her dad, Vinnie, had their picture taken a year or so ago with the Oscar Mayer Weinie! A freeway tip, don't ever, ever get stuck behind that big wiener on the freeway, pure torture and you will never get home!!

Girl, I've been stuck behind bigger "weiners" than that on the freeway! I've missed you and can't wait to get caught up on all that I've missed.
Let me tell you though, you have some of the sweetest vendors ever at CR's!!! You already know how much I love Lisa and Tim, but I got to meet more and they are all wonderful, especially Gloria. What a sweetheart! You are one lucky woman to be surrounded by such a supportive group of talent.

That is soooo funny AND I totally know the song!
Yeah, it is more fun to get stuck in front of big weiners instead of behind them! :)
Good full moon story!
Great! Now I can't get that song out of my mind either!!!
And let's face it...we've both been married to bigger wienies than that!
