My first born grandbaby, Riley, started kindergarten today. I know, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but hey, I was there to help deliver that little baby, so she is pretty special to me. And being the oldest of my three grandkids, she goes first doing everything. So, being who I am, and so in love with my grandkids, here's some pictures of Riley on her first day of school!!
I look at the innocence in Riley's eyes right now, and I have witnessed the compassion she has for others. She is a caring child that cares about others feelings. I hope as she begins this new journey she will never lose these things along this journey as she grows up. There are many of you that either know my dear, sweet friend RuFie, or have read what I've written about her over the years. I love this lady like as if she was my Mom. Her oldest granddaughter just started college. She actually moved away to go to school, and RuFie is there now to visit her. One time RuFie told me her dream had always been to live long enough to see her Hannah graduate high school. Now she has a new dream, to see Hannah graduate college!! The lyrics to Lee Ann Womack's song "I Hope You Dance" remind me today of both my Riley and RuFie's Hannah!
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give fate a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give fate a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter

Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteShe looks so adorable!!! You were so lucky to have been there with her on her first day! My mom doesn't get to see my boy's much and she misses times like these so much!
I love the photo of her and Katie, it's priceless!
Have a great night.
Sincerely,
Melinda

ReplyDeleteHow cute is she on her first day, looks as if she loves it already.
Next thing you know you will be at her high school graduation and looking back at this post.

What a special moment, so glad you were able to share this special day with her. She looks so cute and happy. Congratulations to you and your family on this wonderful milestone.

She is 3 and a half feet of beautiful. It's bittersweet isn't it? I cried when my own started school and I cried when Graycie did. At least I have 3 years before I have to find a kleenex when Bella does...although that is gonna be one mighty special day.

ReplyDeleteThis is the second time you've made me cry! I remember my daughter's first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday! She just started High School this year. Oh, and Lee Ann Womacks's song is on my ipod, love it!
